Baliverse is the creative studio of the multifaceted Sri Lankan filmmaker, dramatist, producer, and writer, Dennis Perera.
His film and theater works delve into questions such as, the influence of narrative arts on human psych, how to create a cinematic aesthetic that effectively portrays deep contemporary social and psychological realities, how the techniques of local ritual dramas can address deep-seated societal, psychological, and political issues, and what art means in the Sri Lankan mindset.
He operates outside the confines of conventional aesthetic techniques and economic models associated with the mainstream.
